The WYSE Link Cluster Support Programme provides
a networking opportunity to Social Enterprises across West
Yorkshire. The grouping of industrial sectors together from
across the region gives organisations an opportunity to share
best practise and offer support to each other in order to
strengthen the sector as a whole.
The project covers the following areas:
1) Information Sharing
Case studies, changes in legislation, and best practice are
just a few areas of information that will be exchanged by
the groups through newsletters.
2) Events
Each of the groups will hold regular events, these may be
in the form of conferences, workshops or networking sessions,
see our events section for further information.
Clusters currently involved in the cluster support
programme are:
- Community Arts
- Environment and Recycling
- Health and Social Care
- Housing and Construction
- Youth Services
- Community Services

The role of social, economic and environmental
reporting is to help social enterprises prove they achieve
these objectives in addition to being financially viable.
Some definition of terms:
- Social accounting - a process to enable an
organisation to account for its performance against its
social, economic and environmental objectives
- Social audit - independent verification of
accounts
- Social reporting - publishing accounts
- Triple bottom line - social, economic and
environmental - "social" is often used as shorthand for
all three elements
Social reporting can benefit all organisations
with social, economic and environmental objectives as it would
help them:
- Enhance the quality of their social impacts;
- Identify areas for improvement;
- Assess social, community, environmental and
cultural added-value; and
- Prove the true worth of the social enterprise
to the people who matter to it - the stakeholders - and
so build trust.
There could also be said to be a moral obligation
for any organisation in receipt of public funding or special
treatment (e.g. exemption from corporation tax or VAT) to
demonstrate value for money.

Procurement
We offer specialist social enterprise support
with tendering for business from the public sector. For organisations
new to tendering there is the Tender Readiness Toolkit developed
by SCEDU and available in West Yorkshire from Social Enterprise
Link's support programme. The toolkit is a useful organisational
healthcheck before tendering and competing for new business.
A dedicated procurement adviser, based at SESC,
can offer one to one support in seeking tender opportunities
across West Yorkshire and completing PQQ and tender documents.
If you already have a contract, SESC will assist with your
contract management either through the procurement adviser
or by identifying specialist help where appropriate.
For organisations who are looking to develop
their income streams through delivering services/contracts
for the public sector, please contact the Procurement Adviser,
David Morrissey on:
