West Yorkshire Social Enterprise Link (WYSE
Link) has assisted Education Advice Service for Adults (EASA)
a Bradford based learning and careers advice centre which
provides guidance to around 7,000 adults a year, enabling
them to take the first steps towards a more rewarding career
or further education opportunities.
This year (EASA) celebrates its 25th anniversary
and since its formation in 1982, it has become a one-stop-shop
for anyone over the age of 18 looking for direction or information
to enhance their career prospects in Bradford.
EASA contacted WYSEL when financial problems
were created due to the closure of their premises at Petergate,
Bradford. Social Enterprise Link stepped in to help the organisation
with cash flow forecasting and business planning and encouraged
staff to attend seminars and training workshops on marketing,
website design and financial planning.
EASA's chief executive, Marion Hamilton said:
"We offer a tailored service to adults and our clients are
the central focus. Social Enterprise Link has been instrumental
in moving our business forward, ensuring that we can offer
our clients a first class, sustainable service. They gave
us guidance on business planning and marketing as well as
helping our staff to access training and opening up networking
opportunities.
"We have found the Social Enterprise Link assistance
invaluable and EASA is a much more stable and efficient organisation
since their involvement and we particularly enjoy the Business
Link West Yorkshire e-newsletter which updates us on forthcoming
training courses, news stories and possible income sources".
EASA are certainly going from strength to strength
and in 2006 received three "excellent" quality audits including
positive feedback from the Investors in People award. EASA
are the second largest Learning & Skills Council funded 'Nextstep
Partnership' advice centre in West Yorkshire and with funding
from Yorkshire Forward, Social Enterprise Link are continuing
to support EASA to increase their portfolio of services and
expand their client base.
